After coming up with with my strap line “Creative Coding” I thought I’d have a go at creating a logo. I wanted something that expresses my design style, combined with a coding element.
At the moment this project is purely fictitious, but I do like the logo and name. Maybe one day I’ll either rebrand this site or create a sister site.

The early ones
I tend to start a logo or design in illustrator so rarely are there pencil sketches. I like to see my designs crisp and on screen.

Logo 1
Logo 1 takes the two C’s of Creative Coding facing each other and with some dots looks like some eyes. I would like to think it expresses a eye for detail.
My main focus is web coding and this didn’t really convey that.
Logo 2
Logo 2 keeps the same format but with the new icon (as in the final). I’m liking the icon but not the format.
The making of the icon
As I want this logo to express a coding element I chose to make the icon out of common characters used within coding. Hopefully these haven’t become to abstract.
The diagram below shows an exploded view along with the characters.

Colours and final touches
I’m a big fan of white space and simple colours. Using white, blue and dark grey gives a clean finish.
The type is set in Myriad Pro with a large kerning giving each character room to breathe.
I felt the overall balance was slightly off so I needed an element at the end to help with the composition. What better then the closing tag for an HTML element.
